Is it possible to self-study and take the SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) Exam without attending the training?

The straightforward answer is no. To take the SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) exam and become a certified SAFe 6 Scrum Master, you must attend the two-day (16 hours) SAFe Scrum Master training course provided by a Scaled Agile Partner. This requirement is in place because Scaled Agile, Inc. has established specific guidelines and prerequisites for exam eligibility, which include attending the official training. You can participate in these trainings either in-person or through live virtual classes, led by a Certified SAFe Practice Consultant. Once you complete the training, the trainer or partner will enable the SAFe Scrum Master Certification exam for you. However, self-paced or self-study modes are not accepted for this training.

Although self-study can help you gain a basic understanding of the SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) concepts, attending the official training offers comprehensive knowledge, hands-on experience, and interactive discussions with a qualified instructor, which are essential for mastering the material.

In summary, while self-study can be beneficial for acquiring knowledge, attending the official training is a mandatory requirement for exam eligibility and obtaining the SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification.
